5 minute Film Premise
*unsuitable for cat lovers*

A young man is driving home, having just finished an evening shift. Driving at a slightly faster speed than usual, through a relatively posh, residential area of his town, the young man is apprehensive to get home. As the car builds up speed there is a sudden “thud” on his car bumper accompanied by a screeching noise. Momentarily panicked by the noise, he pulls his car over and walks back to see what he’d hit.

He sees a cat lying motionless in the road behind his car and breaths a sigh of relieve, thankful it was not a young child. He decides that the best course of action is to verify it’s dead and move it to the side of the road, so he can be on his way. Looking around for an object for the job he remembers the steering wheel, security lock on the back seat.

Taking the steering wheel lock from the car he proceeds towards the cat. Slightly sickened by what he’s about to do he looks away at the moment of impact, as he swings the lock firmly onto the cat. Assured that he has made the right decision, opposed to leaving it suffering, he picks up the cats carcass and drops it in the nearby bush and continues on his journey home.

After being home for about 30 minutes, there's a knock on his front door from a policewoman, saying that someone had reported his number plate after seeing him viciously, beat a cat to death in the street. Embarrassed at how the situation had been interpreted by the onlookers, he explains to the policewoman how he had hit a cat and wanted to be sure it was out of any pain and misery it might have been in.

The policewoman asks to validate his story and have a look at his car bumper where the impact of the cat should have left some sort of mark. Taking the policewoman round to his car she bends over to have a look at the bonnet she feels around underneath the car. Swinging around to give the man a confused look she pulls out another cat that had been wedged underneath the car from the collision earlier that night. The shock hits the young man that he had not only hit a cat that night but killed a perfectly well, sleeping cat that happened to be lying calmly at the side of the road until meeting it’s unfortunate fate.
